Academic Programs

Binghamton University — Part of the valley’s new $35 million Solar Energy Consortium, Binghamton fosters a broad range of PV research. Faculty from several disciplines are actively investigating ways to reduce cost and deliver more efficient solar technology to market.

Clarkson University — Clarkson’s international reputation for research excellence comes partly from its focus on cutting-edge energy technology. Researchers explore such topics as solar energy utilization, solar-electric vehicle simulation, and new nanocomposites for solar cell applications, among others.

Cornell University — A longtime world leader across the spectrum of research, Cornell not only explores the frontiers of advanced technologies but facilitates the use of those innovations through its Cornell Center for Technology, Enterprise, and Commercialization.

Delhi State University

SUNY Delhi – The New York State Energy Research and Development Agency (NYSERDA) and the Interstate Renewable Energy Council (IREC) in collaboration with SUNY Delhi is offering a course in designing and installing a PV system.

SUNY Farmingdale

SUNY Farmingdale- The Solar Energy Center of Farmingdale State University is certified by the NABCEP (North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners) as a “Training Institution” and “Continuing Education Institution” on Solar Energy. They offer a certificate program for PV installers.

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute — For nearly 200 years, RPI research has broken new ground in a myriad of critical areas, from alternative energy sources to next-generation manufacturing techniques. Many Institute research centers actively seek partnerships with industry to solve pressing needs in the marketplace.

The Center for Sustainable Energy — From its location at Bronx Community College, the center promotes the use of renewable energy in urban communities through education, training, workforce development, research, and project facilitation.
